# element.type

Returns whether an element is numeric or a string.

```js
element.type(dimension, name)
```

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `dimension` | `string` | The dimension's name or id. |
| `name` | `string` | The element's name. |

## Returns

`"N"` for a numeric element or `"S"` for a string element, or `null` when the dimension or element can't be found.

## Examples

```js
const type = element.type("Account", "Headcount");
```
